Save on Winter Getaways to Sunny Destinations

Most people are thinking about Christmas shopping and big feasts right now, but it’s not a bad time to plan your winter getaway.  I’m looking through my window onto a very rainy scene, and I wouldn’t mind some sunshine.  Since I can’t have any sun right now, I am going to dream about beautiful aqua blue water, warm sandy beaches and fruity drinks with umbrellas in them instead of umbrellas over my head! I’ve seen some great deals on cruises with on board credit, discounts or freebies.  Travelocity has a great deal for a larger family on Norwegian Cruise Lines .  You pay for three passengers and the rest are free (up to 8 people), though they all have to be in one stateroom.  Orbitz is offering free shore excursions.  If you’ve ever been on a cruise you know those excursions can add up fast and you’ll end up paying more than you did for your whole cruise if you’re not careful.  Another good way to cut the cost of shore excursions is to book those on your own, before you depart, instead of going through the cruise line.  The internet makes it easy to find local companies offering sight seeing or other types of tours and most will be able to pick you up at the dock.  Start searching, you won’t have to look too hard, and you find great cruise deals.

Recently Groupon and Expedia have teamed up for Groupon Getaways.  These are awesome deals with big discounts. They are usually for very specific locations and often have some restrictions or blackout dates.  These deals are perfect if you are flexible with your time and you don’t have a very specific destination in mind. Play around with different locations on Groupon, otherwise you may only get travel deals for your location.

I love all-inclusive hotels for a stress free and decadent vacation.  Yes, you miss the adventure of  possibly stumbling into a gem of a restaurant that only locals know about or finding a great off-the- beaten path hotel for a cheap price.  On the plus side, you know you’ll have good food, a generally clean hotel, a beautiful location and someone at the concierge desk to help you with anything you need. Save up to 50% on all-inclusive hotels in Mexico when you book through Expedia or try LuxuryLink for all-inclusive resorts world wide and save with discount codes.

Stay State Side and head to Florida for a great winter getaway.  The high temperatures in Miami average in the mid 70s during the winter months with low precipitation. Hurricane season is over!  Flights and hotels are relatively inexpensive with a little comparison shopping on the major travel sites. Priceline has a long list of discounted Florida vacations from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale to Southbeach. Enjoy the Miami nightlife or head to Orlando for some family fun, either way you’ll love your warm and sunny Florida vacation.

In between all your hectic holiday shopping dream of your perfect vacation in the sun and make it happen.  Terrific deals are always popping up on your favorite travel sites. You’ll have something to look forward to after the holidays!

Look at boutique hotels near beaches. It’s off season for them and you can get a great deal if you negotiate over phone or at the front desk. These small hotels need the summer frenzy to get them through the long winter months. Don’t be afraid to ask for discounts on room rates.

I have to agree with you on Expedia! The all-inclusive deals are great. Not so sure about Groupon Getaways because there are way too many restrictions. But, it could be good for those that have wide open vacation dates.
