Wardrobe Oxygen: Add Some Glam to Holiday Fashion with Faux Fur
‘Tis the season to go faux–faux fur that is! Faux fur is by far the hottest trend this winter, and it’s an easy way to add a luxe touch to wardrobe staples. This is not a trend that I find worth spending much of your hard-earned money on–faux fur comes and goes when it comes to winter trends, and it seems that each time it is back en vogue, it’s a different color, texture, or silhouette. The thing is, faux fur is a fun trend and a great way to dress up what you already own to look fashionable this winter, be it on a weekend or to a holiday soirée.
Here’s some options from the Web that let you get the fabulous faux fur look this winter, but at prices that will let you adopt the next big trend next season: Faux Fur Collar from H&M ($17.95, see pic above) – A couple of weeks ago I went into a nearby H&M looking for some fun costume jewelry and came out with this collar in a rust color. The fur is a nice quality and dense, there’s a hidden clip to hold the two ends together, and it’s long enough to wear over your wool coat to look as though it has an attached fur collar. It also would look amazing for a holiday party over a LBD with heels and a cuff bracelet. While black is elegant and classic, the pink color online is a nice touch and an unexpectedly lovely contrast to plum, navy, olive, and teal.
The Faux Fur Vest from New York & Company ($55.96) – This vest is the most popular style this season. Square shape, a brownish/grayish blend shaggy fur with touches of ivory. Get the look for less with version from NY & Co.
Pair with a black turtleneck, jeans and tall boots for a chic weekend look, wear over a printed silk blouse, narrow trousers and ankle booties for a work-appropriate ensemble, and belt over a long-sleeved sweater dress for a great Date Night outfit.
To get the boho look wear in a manner similar to the model, pair with a paisley or floral babydoll dress and vintage jeans. For a more polished look, pair with an ivory silk blouse, menswear-inspired trousers and loads of pearls. The black version would look chic over a simple black dress and a wide leather belt.
If you pair it with a black long-sleeved mini dress, you will be the talk of the holiday party. Wear on the weekends with a crisp white shirt and dark jeans tucked into tall black leather boots; create an elegant lounge look by slipping over luxe jersey pants and tunic or a maxi dress.
This jacket would also look adorable with a simple white tank and jeans for a night out with the girls. At this amazing price, you can’t afford to pass up the faux fur trend!
