Wardrobe Oxygen: Lauren Conrad’s Hair and Other Chic Ways to Beat the Heat

Can you believe it’s already July? It’s the season for barbecues, beach weekends, and unbearably hot summer days. The last thing you want to do on a steamy summer day is whip out the hair dryer or flat iron. Luckily this summer’s hair trends let you look chic without the heat.

Here are a few videos that teach you summer hair trends that will keep you cool and don’t require electricity. Braid Your Bangs. Whether you are like me and growing our your bangs, or you just don’t want to fight with them in the heat and humidity, you are in luck this summer. Braids are back and in a big way and are a great way to get your bangs off your face with minimal effort and maximum style. Celebs like Lauren Conrad and Jennifer Aniston have been seen around town with their bangs braided back and it’s a great look this season. Vlogger hushlittleladyyy breaks down the steps to achieve a great braided bang look; I know I will be rocking this look this summer while I deal with my in-between length bangs!

Retro Curls Without an Iron. I love Pinterest; it’s a great site to not only get inspiration from photos, but links to brilliant blogs and DIY projects. Through Pinterest I found this video by vlogger The Lipstick Diaries where she teaches you how to get retro curls without a curling iron. The video is great, you can see step by step how Maria from The Lipstick Diaries uses a simple elastic headband for a fun updo, and then when the updo is released, a head full of gorgeous curls. I plan on trying this method soon and showing the results on my blog.

Beachy Waves Without the Beach. There are many tutorials out there that show you how to get beachy waves in your hair without heating tools; I like vlogger DragonPalace88‘s method because she shows what specific styling products she uses (and they are easily found at your local drugstore!), and she gives tips to customize it depending on your hair length and type as well as how curly you want the end result. I have done this method overnight with four or five mini buns for a great look in my fine/wavy hair; if you have longer hair you can wear the bun during the day to have gorgeous waves for evening.

Easy Summer Updos. Tired of the plain ponytail or rushed messy topknot? This easy summer updo, demonstrated by YouTube vlogger alissaevelyn will give you maximum style for minimum effort and get your hair up off your neck.

A little more complicated but still easy to do, this updo tutorial by vlogger Lilith Moon will help you achieve a creative updo worn by the likes of Heidi Klum. This updo is another way to get your bangs off your face while still looking quite stylish.

Finally, I love this tutorial for a messy side bun by BeautyByAmy. I love how this hairstyle looks so chic, but is so effortless. A great way to add some glam to your look while keeping yourself cool this summer.

I am loving the messy side side bun, I think it would be very easy to adjust to be a back updo as well! 🙂
