Image by puuikibeach via Flickr This is it. This is the year. You're going down two jean sizes. Or three! But you're not sure how you're going to be able to control your urges without some kind of diet pills, and you can't imagine how you're going to fit that into your already-tight budget.

Image by Jason Staten via FlickrThe key to making sure food doesn't go to waste after a big meal is planning. When you're creating the menu for Christmas dinner, you should also create a meal plan for the leftovers. Typically, if you are preparing a whole turkey, roast beef, or ham, you can expect that you won't eat all of it--and you'll need to eat it relatively quickly for safety reasons.
Turkey and roast beef last about two or three days, and ham will save for four or five days. Don't think you'll use them fast enough? Pack them up in smaller batches and freeze them for later in the year.
Read on for other ideas on making the most of your holiday dinner leftovers:

Hosting a meal for a major holiday like Hanukkah can be stressful--and pricy. If you are trying to keep the event under a certain budget, one of the most important things to consider is the number of guests you will be inviting.
Of course, if you are simply inviting all of your family members, this may not be under your control, but getting RSVPs can help you understand how many people you will be feeding and how much food you need. Once you know this, there are many ways you can work to keep your costs down.

Money Saving Tips
Holiday shopping of any kind can be a hectic, frustrating experience, and the grocery store is no exception. In fact, it's probably worse because you're not expecting it to be crazy and it's likely one of the last things on your mind since you've got more important matters like gifts and travel plans to think about.
And, of course, while you want to eat healthy, there are probably a number of holiday treats and traditional meals you'll be expected to make. How do you make it as easy as possible on yourself and still get what you want?

Money Saving Tips
Image by pinprick via FlickrPregnancy can be an exciting but also nerve-wracking time. Your body is changing in ways you can't even begin to understand. When you feel bad, you worry that something's gone wrong. On those rare occasions when you feel good, you worry that you don't feel bad. And one of the biggest worries has got to be your diet. Not only how hard it will be to follow your doctor's advice and change everything for the apparently very picky rugrat, but how much eating in this healthy, fetus-safe way is going to cost you. Especially when you're already frantic about how expensive the kid's going to be!
But worry not, moms-to-be, there are ways that you can eat healthy and still keep a few dollars of your hard-earned money.

First off, what does "the right turkey" mean? For some of us, it means taste. We want the juiciest, most delicious bird out there. For others, we have moral/religious/philosophical desires for how the bird was cared for and killed. And still others simply want the lightest impact on their wallet. None of these desires is inherently right or wrong, but you should know what you're getting into with each kind of bird.

Odds and Ends
Waste not, want not! One of the best ways to save money is to make use of what you already have. It's likely that every year you've simply tossed your pumpkin in the trash without giving it much thought, but it can have a second life if you make a little effort.
