Band geeks. Every high school has them. You all know who they were in your school, and there's a pretty good chance a lot of you were band geeks yourselves. And if you were, I'm sure you've got a story or two that begins, "One time at band camp..."

When we told Woodwind & Brasswind (one of the stores on Savings.com) about this post, they decided to ask their Facebook fans to share their band camp stories with us.

Here are a couple of snippets:

Even though Labor Day originated in Canada, Americans have taken the concept and run with it ever since it became a federal holiday in 1884. While its original intent was to recognize the labor workers with a day of parades and celebrations, Labor Day weekend has now become synonymous with barbecues, beach days, and major sales.

In the spirit of the latter, here are our top 10 Labor Day coupons. These deals are good this weekend only, so be sure to jump on it!

On August 20th, we announced a contest on our blog in which we planned to give away a copy of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 for Windows to a person randomly selected from our list of entrants. When I asked random.org to choose a number between 1 and 167, our winner emerged.

No matter what your musical taste, there's no doubt that somewhere in the world there's a music festival planned that's right up your alley. Whether you're one of the thousands of people that descend upon Rhinelander, Wisconsin (my hometown) each summer to see Reba, Sugarland, and Neal McCoy at the Hodag Country Festival or you prefer the more rocking lineup of the Sunset Strip Music Festival, there's music being played for you. And if you're an indie music fan, there are more festival options than you know.

As a fairly avid music fan on a budget, I often struggle with spending lots of money on concert tickets, downloads and music magazine subscriptions. I want to stay connected to what's going on and to what's new, but it's rough with all the TicketMaster fees and with the ever-present temptation to pirate music instead of legitimately paying for it.

I have, however, found a few ways to maintain my music knowledgeability without spending all my monies on music and music-related purchases.

Here are a few tips to help you stay hip without breaking the bank...

We've all heard it before..."The best things in life are free." If you really think about it, you'll find that statement to be pretty true. I've polled my co-workers here at Savings.com to see what kinds of free things they consider to be priceless. Yeah, I'm going for something along the same lines as the g'zillion MasterCard commercials we've seen over the years. You know...two tickets to a baseball game - $24. Two hotdogs and sodas - $30. An afternoon ballgame with your kid - priceless.

In any case, here's what I heard back from the team...

The economy sucks. No big secret there, right? And it's no secret that the federal and state governments are feeling similar economic pressures as their residents. I don't think this could be any more evident than it is for those of us who live here in California.

Last week, KABC-TV in LA ran a story called Online Coupons: Beware of the Bargain that tells the story of a woman that was scammed by an online coupon service. Via a popup on their site, this service promised her a great deal in exchange for some of her personal information. She ended up with a load of phony charges on her credit card statement, and she's still in the process of straightening out her finances.

Loren and I met with people from all sorts of publications, and they all seemed stoked to hear about Savings.com, the great things we're doing and the exciting things we're working on.
