Happy December 1st! We wanted to make sure to kick off our 12 Days of Giveaways with a truly magical prize. And what could possibly be more magical than our favorite fictional wizard, Harry Potter?

I can't believe Halloween just passed and now we're headed full throttle into the holiday season. In less than two weeks,
Thanksgiving will be kicking off the festivities.
Most people associate Thanksgiving with turkeys, stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, corn, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. It's true that it has a lot to do with the food and how badly you can stuff yourself silly, but more importantly, it's about being with the family (
including your extended family) and being grateful.
Besides eating all day long (
or watching Food Network around the clock),
watching a game of football (
we know how big this gets, especially on Thanksgiving Day) or planning your
Black Friday strategy with your
shopping list, what else can a family do?
Depending on what your family enjoys doing, there are a lot of things you can do on Thanksgiving Day. I've compiled a list of four different activities that can be enjoyable for everyone and budget-friendly or free.

Holidays
Summer is here, woohoo! Hot weather, long days and the need to cool off go hand in hand with water games for kids. Kids, and even adults, can have a blast in the yard, in a pool, at the lake or at the beach playing with water. Get your squirt guns ready!

Loose Change
This week, the Wacky Product of the Week blog wades deep into the strange and kooky basement waters of party days gone by. It's Beer Pong-related goofiness time folks. Not only that, but it's beer pong...for kids! Okay, not really. But maybe? Step back in time with me to a few years ago, or last week (
Chi Gamma Epsilon - Phi Lambda Rho alliance reigned supreme!) as we take a look at
Cuponk and its endless possibilities for hours of fun beyond what the game makers initially intended.

Stuff We Like
Fresh from spending over $55 at the movie theater to watch Toy Story 3 in 3D today, I am here to write this week's Frugal Family post. I could talk about how we saved money by opting for the matinee, but the reality is that spending $38 for movie tickets is not exactly frugality at its finest. The movie was excellent and the 3D effects were totally worth the extra money we paid to rent glasses, but the experience served as a reminder of why theater outings continue to be a rare treat for my family.

Money Saving Tips
When it comes to my kids playing videogames, I have two simple
rules: no more than 45 minutes per day, and nothing with blood,
guts, guns, and other violent images.
That leaves out a lot of the hot new releases, like Assassin's
Creed III, Dishonored, and Halo 4. If you're a parent like me, that
can create something of a quandary this holiday season: The kids
have outgrown the educational stuff, but you'd rather not expose
them to all that realistically rendered brutality.
Fortunately, alternatives exist.
