Earlier this year I reviewed the
Soundmatters FoxL v2, a compact portable speaker that produced bigger sound than I'd thought possible from such a diminutive device.
I like the
Jawbone Jambox a little better, even though it's not the audio-quality champ of the two. This wireless speaker/speakerphone connects to any gizmo that supports the A2DP Bluetooth protocol--meaning most phones, laptops, and tablets--and provides a huge improvement over the wimpy speakers built into most such devices.

When I'm looking to buy kids' toys, I am looking for three things:
One: I want it to be cheap, because in these hard times, affordability is key.
Two: I want it to be safe, because choking hazards and badly made toys just aren't good for your kids to play with.
And three: I want it to creep me the heck out.
What, you don't want your kids' toys to freak you out? You're obviously in the minority there, because these
Cartoon Shaped USB Rechargeable Mini Portable Speakers are the creepiest things in the world, but I bet your kids would love them.

When it comes to speakers, size does matter. As a general rule, the smaller they are, the smaller they sound.
The
Soundmatters FoxL v2 Bluetooth is a rare exception. This amazingly compact speaker bar delivers unusually "big" sound, with enough power to fill even a large room. And because it supports wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth, it's an ideal companion for smartphones and tablets.
It's also a great gift item for moms, dads, and grads.
