The New York mafia went down this week, along with our hope that internet and cable giant Comcast would fail in acquiring NBC Universal. At the same time we have reason to be hopeful, as Google readies itself for a Groupon-esque service and GE finally reports promising numbers.

Level 3 Communications, provider of the fiber-based communication services central for the Netflix streaming option, has accused cable giant
Comcast of charging exorbitant fees to send data to its subscribers. Level 3 filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, claiming that Comcast's action "
threatens the open Internet" by charging a fee that puts competitors at a disadvantage.
This incident has sparked yet another debate about
net neutrality.
