This fall has so many amazing fashion trends, it can be quite overwhelming. If you try to update your wardrobe to keep up with them, you could be in the poorhouse by the start of October.
I find the easiest (and most frugal!) way to update your closet each season is with a few choice accessories. While accessory updates are great for updating the wardrobe for less, they are also awesome because they take up little space. If the trend or your size changes, you can pack them away and bring them back when the fashion or your size returns!
The simple addition of a shoe, bag, or change to your cosmetic routine can completely transform your wardrobe basics, bringing you to the height of fashion for very little money.
Here are my choices for Fall 2011:

Social media outlets were all a-twitter this week regarding Gwyneth Paltrow's newsletter GOOP. GOOP is a newsletter (and website) where Paltrow shares her favorite places to visit, recipes, advice and inspiration from celebrity friends, and her random thoughts on topics important to her. This week, GOOP featured Gwyneth's choices for spring essentials.
The collection was full of simple, yet modern pieces that were are versatile and perfect for the season. Paltrow teamed with shopping site Net-a-Porter to offer these wardrobe essentials for purchase. The only problem" These "essentials" total over $18,000 ($16,434 for the clothing and shoes alone!). I doubt you can afford such a wardrobe, I know I can't. I usually hate "Dress for Less" articles because they pick pieces that may be similar, but don't give the same effect when actually worn.
However since I do believe Paltrow's "essentials" do make for a creative yet wearable spring and summer wardrobe, I scoured the 'net for pieces that give the same effect, but are available for much, much less.

Money Saving Tips
I have had many readers contact me asking me how to style outfits with belts. I credit Michelle Obama for really making this trend popular--she has been known for wearing all widths of belts over shift dresses, cardigans, even wool coats. An addition of a belt can transform the look of a wardrobe staple while also transforming the look of your own body shape. Belts can accentuate a waist, or even create the illusion of a waist on a straighter figure.
Now that belts have come back into fashion with such intensity, it is easy to find belts in any shape, size or material.

Stuff We Like
Today's prizes are all about luxury. Whether it's velvety smooth alpaca fibers, soft Peruvian pima cotton, lustrous silk or sparkling diamonds, there's nothing quite like sumptuousness of the finer things in life.
Compliments of Peruvian Connection, we're giving away a $200 gift card and if that weren't enough, we're throwing in a bit of bling thanks to our friends at MyJewelryBox.
A recent study produced by OfficialWire reports that fashion accessory in the U.S. is a $16.3 billion industry that's trending growth to $20.2 billion by the year 2012. Categories included in this report are bags, belts, gloves, handkerchiefs, hats, scarves, and ties. The ability for an accessory to completely make over an outfit is one reason why consumers are quick to purchase inexpensive add-ons especially during an economic downturn.
