Stuff We Like
Has another year gone by already? If there's one thing I wish I could save more of, it's time, not money.
But until scientists figure out how to do that, money it is!
Of course, there is one way to turn back the clock, in a manner of speaking. Today I'm pausing to reflect on 2011 and pick my favorite gadgets of the year. What's on the list? You may be surprised by some of my choices. (Hint: There's not a single Apple product.)

Money Saving Tips
I've often said it's not the price of smartphones that bothers me, it's the monthly fee you have to pay for service.
AT&T and
Verizon, for example, charge $59.99 per month for 900-minute plans--not including the obligatory data plan for your
iPhone or
Android phone. And if you're a serious gabber, the unlimited voice plans will run you $69.99 monthly.
Wouldn't it be great if you could switch to the cheapest available voice plan, without giving up a single minute of talk time? Thanks to a couple amazing apps, you can.

Product Review
I know a ton of people who'd like to abandon their pricey home phone service, but still want the equivalent of a landline for convenience, emergencies--and the occasional marathon chat session (one that won't eat into their mobile minutes or drain their cell phone's battery).
