Odds and Ends

predictions for 2011 food trends. Chief among them are pies and hot dogs, which sounds about right: Simple, nostalgic foods have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity during the recession.

St. Patrick's Day will be here next week. This St. Patty's Day list includes restaurant offers, parades and any event associated with the 17th. I am sad to say I didn't find any free pints -- I did look! I did find ONE freebie, yes just one (
I think more will be available as 17th gets closer). Some offers are even listed by city.
Then there is the must have for everyone: Directory of Irish Pubs. If you need a ride home after drinking your green beer some areas offer a free cab rides (up to $30).

Money Saving Tips
Now that Christmas is over, it's time to ramp up for the other big celebration: New Year's Eve. We know that restaurants and bars take advantage of this holiday by raising prices on dinners and drinks and calling them "package deals" Some people can afford it and are willing to go all out on December 31st, but others are looking for something low-key and low-cost.
If you're in the latter group, I've got some ways that you can celebrate NYE without breaking the bank.
