Looking for a videogame gift to put under someone's tree? If you're
a parent like me and the recipient is a teen, tween, or even
younger kid, you might prefer something free of blood, guts, guns,
and other violent images.
Alas, that leaves out a lot of the hot new releases, including
Assassin's Creed IV, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Grand
Theft Auto V. I'm not wild about exposing my kids to so much
realistically rendered brutality. (That's what TV is for! Kidding,
Fortunately, alternatives exist.

Now that Halloween is over, I am already getting into the Christmas spirit. Usually, that feeling doesn't hit me until late November when the holiday rush is on in full swing, but with all the stores putting up holiday decorations early, I'm in the mood.
And really, nothing says "holiday celebration" like gigantic, flying, remote-control sharks and fish! Enter Air Swimmers from ThinkGeek.

I love Fall. And I love Halloween even more! And Fall means it's nearly Halloween, so you can imagine my delight at seeing all the creepy crawlies coming out in stores near you. I'm already shopping for my Halloween costume (no clue what I should be yet, alas...) and have RSVP'ed to a party and signed up for the Halloween Trick-or-Treat at Disneyland (yes, I am an adult).
So yeah, totally excited about this time of year and all the goodies that come with it, like cool fall weather, holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving....and of course tiny monster plushies that pretend to eat your flesh.

This week, the Wacky Product of the Week blog wades deep into the strange and kooky basement waters of party days gone by. It's Beer Pong-related goofiness time folks. Not only that, but it's beer pong...for kids! Okay, not really. But maybe? Step back in time with me to a few years ago, or last week (Chi Gamma Epsilon - Phi Lambda Rho alliance reigned supreme!) as we take a look at Cuponk and its endless possibilities for hours of fun beyond what the game makers initially intended.

Stuff We Like
Fresh from spending over $55 at the movie theater to watch Toy Story 3 in 3D today, I am here to write this week's Frugal Family post. I could talk about how we saved money by opting for the matinee, but the reality is that spending $38 for movie tickets is not exactly frugality at its finest. The movie was excellent and the 3D effects were totally worth the extra money we paid to rent glasses, but the experience served as a reminder of why theater outings continue to be a rare treat for my family.
