October is Breast Cancer Awareness month which was created to educate everyone about the importance of getting regular mammograms to check for the common cancer. With early detection,
95% of patients survive which magnifies the importance of regular check-up. One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime which is 12% too many. In order to raise money and awareness for research, many companies are offering special promotions during the month of October.

As you may have heard, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month (
and, for those keeping track, today is National Denim Day), established 25 years ago to educate and empower women (and men) about a disease in which almost 200,000 new cases were diagnosed last year and that caused over 40,000 deaths last year as well. In order to raise money for research and/or raise consciousness, a number of retailers are offering special promotions.

If you were too focused on buying presents and baking cookies to even think about your New Year's outfit, know that you're not the only one. I type this, surrounded by torn gift wrap and fabulous presents, just catching my breath and realizing New Years Eve is next weekend. Ack!
