Do you like magazines? Perhaps you've heard of
Next
Issue, a flat-rate subscription service that lets you read all
the magazines you want on your tablet or PC.
(Update: Apparently there's been a technical
glitch at Next Issue's end, so the deal is on hold for the time
being. But keep checking back, because it should go live by
tomorrow or early next week.)
The service offers more than 80 titles, from Allure and Bon
Appetit to Food Network and Travel + Leisure.

With only a few days until Christmas morning, you may be in a slight panic if you find your gift list is not complete. Whether you classify yourself as a procrastinator or simply enjoy the increasing pressure to find a meaningful gift part of the holiday season, here's a few ideas to check those last items off your list!
Last Minute Gift Ideas
Gift Cards
Despite their reputation, gift cards can be as meaningful as a specific item. Choose a gift card from a store you know they will enjoy. Whether they'll be buying a new pair of shoes or a chai latte with your gift, they'll be sure to think of you with thanks when they use the card to purchase something they need or just want.
As an added bonus of savings, select gift cards that earn you rewards at your grocery store. Local restaurants also may give you a return on your money.

Holidays
This was one crazy week in fashion news, so we decided to take a quick look back at the top fashion stories of the week. Fashion divas are making splashes on the runway, in Vegas, and in the courtroom.
Enjoy.

Though there are arguments about the future of offshore oil drilling, one thing is certain: this is a terrible disaster. For those who say, "This is not as bad as the Exxon Valdez spill," these types of comparisons may not even be necessary. How about we just choose to acknowledge that they're both terrible and find ways so this never happens again. For a region still reeling from the effects of Katrina, the Gulf oil spill is particularly troubling.
So what's this all mean for the the economics of the region and the future of offshore oil drilling? Some of this is to be determined (especially the future of offshore oil) but the economics of this spill are pretty startling.

I'm a big fan of e-books. I used to read them on my PalmPilot, but now my iPhone is my reader of choice. Alas, I'm not a fan of e-book prices, which to me seem unnecessarily high compared with dead-tree editions.
That's why I'm jazzed about this new deal from e-bookseller Fictionwise (
which is now owned by Barnes & Noble): When you buy any of
John Grisham's twenty-three novels, Fictionwise will give you a 100-percent rebate.
