3 Ways to Repurpose Furniture for Cheap

The only new piece of furniture I own in my house is my mattress. Everything else is a hand-me-down. Not only have I furnished my entire house for less than $1,000, I'm saving the environment by reclaiming furniture that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. To make everything match and look nice, I have repurposed many of the pieces. I'm no handyman, but there are several ways you can repurpose furniture with little experience and without spending a ton of money.
1. Paint
A fresh coat of paint gives life to an old piece of wood furniture. You can paint the furniture to match the original wood or in any color you like, (I have a blue desk.) The major hardware chains sell samples of low-VOC paint for about $3.50 and its enough paint to finish most jobs.

By Logikal1 4 months ago Read EVERY word and click on EVERY link to make sure you understand what iyou are buying, now long it will take to arrive (up to 3 wks - more if it's out of stock), what the 'free' warranty covers (almost nothing), what the additional 1-3 yr 'extended' warranty covers (read that in detail!), how the delivery will be set up, what YOU must be ready to do on the day of delivery (i.e. remove the house door(s) for large items, clear the entire path to where the item's going etc - because the delivery people WILL charge $40/15min - [even if it's 3 minutes!] for anything that delays the delivery! If YOU have to remove the item's door so it'll fit (they don't unless you pay for premium delivery) you WILL pay for the delay! Make sure you inspect every inch of the item BEFORE you sign the delivery receipt. Look for scratches, patches, dents etc and that it turns on & works before you sign. This will prevent most of the complaints people have listed - they didn't read what was expected of them and then they got angry when things didn't go as expected.
