In my opinion Dell is the more reliable, better constructed manufacturer. My HP machines have been too delicate even with good care. HPs will also just cease working (my friend had to return to HP tablets because both touch pads stopped working within a day of use).

As far as pricing goes, they are essentially the same in the lower end of the spectrum. You'll get a 1.66ghz atom processor with a 10.1" screen, 1GB RAM, and a 250GB hard drive for around $330.

Go with Dell.

I'm an HP fan but I don't know much about computers so I'm not going to go into details there. I do know that you can often get great coupons from Staples so sign up for their email updates and wait for a sale!

The guys in our office use HP's and I have so many problems with them. Generally within three months I have to replace the batteries and the screens mess up constantly.

Meanwhile I am on my Dell right now (it's a desk top though). I have had it for almost ten years with no real issues (knock on wood).

Get a dell. :)

Pay the extra $100 to get a laptop - netbooks just don't quite cut it!

Netbooks are very weak for their small 10 inch size. A better value is a 11 inch and 15.6 inch note running AMD X2 Neo or i3 UM. HP,Acer has 25% failure (the worse for notebooks). Dell,Sony,ASUS,Tobia has a good 19% according to 4Square.

I have worked for both companies and hp is by far the most honest one. Not to mention hp products are 100% new unlike dell, and dell charges for everything, really restocking fees, come on now dell are you that broke?i don't know why they do nothing but rip off their customers..hp has top of the line!! LOVE HP! hp is genuinely honest and really care about the customers the first dell who will tell you lies just to get you into their products!! the more we decide to get sales the bigger raises we got at dell!!!
