Most companies will give you on-line quotes now- it's one of the easiest things in the world to comparison shop. Just start going around and filling out the information. Or you can start at Progressive and they will compare some of them for you.

Also make sure that you have your homeowners with the same company to get a multiple policy discount!

It's true, keep all of your policies with the same company to receive the highest discounts. Also, keeping a good driving record will help keep your policies low. If you're still in college or you have a child in school, you should be able to get a good student discount as well.

Special things like airbags, theft deterrents, safety equipment, and amount of use could also lower the cost of your policy. And, if you really need to lower the upfront cost the first things you should look at are raising your deductible and eliminating collision coverage. But be careful, because these could end up costing you more later.

Lastly, price shop and consider your needs. I love having a real agent to work with, one that I can visit at any time. But online services can be less expensive if you don't mind seeing them in the flesh.

Keep your deductibles high and combine home and car insurance with the same company. Also get a safe driver certification to get a discount for the next 2-3 years.
