Canon or Nikon? Which DSLR is the best?

Re: Canon or Nikon? Which DSLR is the best?

There is no "better" between these two. Both are industry leaders in the camera business, in both equipment and technology. Best thing for you to do is go to a camera store and have the person at the counter let you hold both brands in your hand (yes, cameras are different shapes and sizes and feel differently in your hand - weight, grip, size, texture of grip area, ease of control use for both hands, etc), test our the menu and controls (some people find Canon more intuitive, some find Nikon more intuitive), how easily can you frame up a shot, focus, etc. What comes with the camera? How new is the model, so you won't have an out of date piece of equipment as soon as you leave the store....?

It's really up to you which one is "better." Which is better, red or blue? There is no right answer here.

I personally shoot with Canon cameras and lenses for both digital and film. Friends who are fellow pros use both brands. And I say the ratio of Canon to Nikon in the pro world is nearly 50/50.

Long answer short...you can't go wrong with either!

Flip a coin. This tends to be a "religious" debate where fans of one will tell you why it is superior. Truth is, it doesn't really matter which one you pick, because both manufacture fantastic cameras. Once you choose one, you're best to stick with it. Lenses and other attachments are brand-specific. So if you already have Canon or Nikon gear, go with what you've got. Otherwise, check out the fantastic review site http://www.dpreview.com and see which one jumps out at you. And remember, it's the photographer who creates a great picture, not the camera. Whatever you get, take the time to learn the proper use. Tools help, but it's the technique that matters. No one asked Shakespeare what kind of pen he used.

Both of them are both brands but I am going to have to lean towards Nikon because I own a Nikon. I find that it is very user friendly. It has the feature for a more advanced person but is also dummy proof so a beginner can operate it. The pictures that mine takes are great and my model is quite a few years old. If i was going to pick one I would say Nikon but you will not go wrong with a Canon either.

Another great way to find out what the experts are saying is to go check out http://www.cnet.com. They are one of the biggest electronic review sites out there and I go to them for almost everything.
