Where do you find lye?

We need lye for lye soap.

Re: Where do you find lye?

If you go to your local hardware store and ask for "drain opener," they'll point you to Roebic, which is close to 100% lye. You can also buy lye from soap- and candle-making supply sites, and from DIY biodiesel sites. A popular soap-making supply site is Lehman's:

But be very careful and wear gloves-- pure lye is pretty dangerous stuff.
