How Do You Save On Organics?

I have been having great luck stacking coupons at Whole Foods to get great deals on Organic Products. I also have my own garden for some produce. What are some other ways you save on organic items?

Re: How Do You Save On Organics?

Buying in bulk really helps (we still have wheatberries from several years ago that we bought from Azure Standard). Also, buying in bulk from the dispensers at Whole Foods or Spouts is helpful in saving the extra cost for packaging.

Re: How Do You Save On Organics?

We buy in bulk from a store in our area. I'm able to pick up 50 lbs. of organic oatmeal for just $38.

We pick up our wheat berries there as well. We garden and also buy organic produce at Costco. And we have our own chickens for eggs.

The kicker for us is organic milk. The best price that I've found is Walmart - it's $5.98 a gallon in my area. I'm able to pick up organic soymilk for cheaper and I use that for smoothies. And I use organic rice milk from Costco as a substitute for cow's milk in my baking recipes. Partly because I'm lactose-intolerant, but also it works out cheaper.

We have to figure out organic meat yet.

We purchased a half a cow last year - it was organic and grass fed. It has fed us all year long - there are some tips on how to make sure you understand the purchase a bit better here - http://www.iamthatlady.com/how-to-save-o…

Check prices on the Organic and the regular produce carefully. Sometimes Organic goes on clearance and is cheaper then regular produce when it needs to be sold by a certain date.

I've been really impressed with Safeway's brand of organics. They also happen to offer coupons pretty regularly for these products within their Just 4 U program - just remember to log in and load them to your Club Card!

I have been branching out beyond the chain stores to some local places and finding reduced prices!

I also have a garden to try to have as much fresh produce/veggies as possible. But for stores - I have found that Costco has really great prices on organics, and since I have a family of 5, the portions aren't too big. For those that need smaller items, or don't want to pay the membership fee, Safeway also has a good selection of organics and with the new Just for U program, I'm getting coupons for organic products, like milk, carrots, apples, juice, etc, in my personalized deals.

Another tip is to make sure you always buy in season to get the lowest price.

I love the Naturally Preferred Magazine at Kroger stores....it has some great organic coupons. Also, like to watch the Amazon Fresh deals page!

And, in the Pacific NW QFC is a nice resource. I just picked up a $5 gallon of Organic Milk for just over $2. The sell by date is not for another week and a half, and my family will have it gone in a day or two. They mark their stuff down earlier then most stores in my experience, so you can get some great "manager markdown" deals on Organics.
