Milk Prices

Anyone else feel like milk prices in their area are outrageous? The cheapest I can find here is over $3.00 a gallon and the grocery stores run between $3.79-$3.99 most of the time!

What are milk prices in your area?

Re: Milk Prices

Make sure you're hunting down the clearance caves in your stores. One of our stores here consistently has milk on "Manager's Special" for $.99 a gallon, along with numerous other dairy items. The milk always has 9-10 days before it expires so it's a very moo-ving shopping experience to get milk that low.

Between the two stores (Safeway and King Soopers) we can frequently find it on sale for $1.97 a gallon or $.99 a half gallon, if the udders in the Manager's Special section are dry.

Re: Milk Prices

Hazel, that's really smart! $.99/ gallon is such a good deal! I'm going to start employing this tactic.

Re: Milk Prices

I've become quite fond of the clearance sections in my two main stores. I've just about worn out shopping cart grooves in the floor tiles with my beeline pattern.

The key to this is having a theme song in your head when you're on the hunt :)

There I go again, clickin' that attach a coupon button instead of the reply to post button.

I've become so fond of the clearance caves & sections in my two main stores that I've almost got a shopping cart groove in the floor tiles from my beeline patterns. It also helps to have a theme song in your head, like Mission Impossible or Super Freak. (Okay I changed it to Shoppah Freak, Shoppah Freak she's shoppah cheapy)

Re: Milk Prices

Wow! I wish my stores would clearance like that. The stores I shop at.... the only clearanced milk I have seen has 1 day or less until expiration. Crazy!

I live near a Wegmans which has their gallons @ $1.79 - every other place that I go they have them at almost $3.00 per gallon.

Re: Milk Prices

Believe it or not but the gas station up the street has the cheapest milk in town. Go figure.

Re: Milk Prices

We have had some pretty reasonable milk prices, this week for 1/2 gallon at Homeland (Oklahoma store) is $1.38

Re: Milk Prices

Safeway has had some great milk prices lately with the Just 4 U program ($.99 milk last week for 1/2 gallon), plus I had a $.50 of coupon for Organic Milk in my peronalized coupons this week. If you are buying milk, then theoretically you should get coupons for it in your account :)

Re: Milk Prices

The best prices for organic milk in our area is the Central Market brand at HEB/Central Market. For low-heat pasturized, non-homogenized there's a local store that sells it for around $5/gallon, but the gas to get there brings the price up.

Re: Milk Prices

I usually can get milk for about $2.69 a gallon in Michigan. I often can get it for free when Kroger has a buy 4 boxes of cereal for $10 sale and get free milk. I usually have coupon for all the cereal which brings the price down too!

Re: Milk Prices

Do you have an ALDI near you? They often have low prices on milk...our milk price in Indiana is around $2.50 a gallon but I can get it as low as $1.99.

Also CVS sometimes has ECB deals on milk!
