Just $.02 more on the subject: don't buy your HDMI cords at Best Buy or any other electronics store. Get them online from a site like Meritline or Monoprice. It's a proven fact that the "cheap" cords work just as well as their pricey counterparts!

I'll second the "refurbished" recommendation. Apple's refurbs are *exactly* like new, right down to the one-year warranty. The outer case is new, the battery is new...the only difference is the box.

If you mean the NXT 2.0, a couple sellers on eBay have it for around $267 shipped--which is only about $12 less than the list price.

You need to be more specific: speakers for your PC, or speakers for your home/home theater?

For work, no. For everything else (books, movies, music, games, etc.), yes.

For starters, look for a laptop with at least a 6-cell battery (meaning you should avoid most netbooks). Second, what's your definition of "long battery life"? A better bet might be to check the prices of additional batteries. Some run $50, while some cost two or three times as much.

Dyson, Dyson, Dyson. Pricey, but very worth it.

For what it's worth, I spent about $1,100 on one about 10 years ago... and it's the best money I ever spent. I use it 2-3 times per week, and it has never given me a lick of trouble. This was after going through three or four cheapo models. This is something that's worth investing in!

If you happen to know anyone who works for Microsoft, they can get it at the company store for $25.
