Newsworthy
Photo courtesy of kodomut, via FlickrLast week, Amazon announced a new feature for their Prime program. Now,
in addition to unlimited 2nd-day shipping and access to a collection of
streaming movies and TV shows,
Prime members will be able to borrow e-books without having to pay anything over and above the $79 annual Prime membership fee.

Product Review
Regular Tech-pert readers know of my fondness for
e-readers--and my hatred of e-book prices. (
Sorry, publishers, but you can't give me a good argument for why older and out-of-print titles aren't priced at a buck or two.)
Fortunately, there are ways to get books for your
Amazon Kindle (
and, in some cases, your Barnes & Noble Nook) without spending a dime. Don't worry, they're all perfectly legal--though there are a few limitations.
First up: a virtual trip to your local library.

Spotlight Deals
I'm not sure how to feel right now.
Yesterday, Amazon took the wraps off the
Kindle with Special Offers, an updated version of the $139 Wi-Fi-only Kindle. What's so "special" about it? In a word: ads.
