AM, FM--these former stalwarts of
traditional radio are quickly becoming dinosaurs associated with a
past life defined by strict corporate control, static-filled
reception, as well as uninspired and repetitive music and talk
rotations. The future of radio is satellite and the future is
now.
Actually, the future has been
here for quite some time. Recently, however, the satellite radio
market has truly taken off with consumers and experts alike. No
longer do you need to worry about losing your favorite station when
you leave town or drive out of broadcast signal range. Satellite
reception guarantees that the signal will reach your receiver
anywhere across the country.
If you are ready to jump on the
satellite radio bandwagon, there are a few things you need to know
before making that first key purchase.

Product Review
If you're an active person and a smartphone owner, I have two products to recommend. First is the
Spibelt, an impossibly comfortable sports belt with a stretchy pouch that can accommodate keys, cash, your phone and other walker/runner/biker essentials.
The second is the
Jabra Sport Bluetooth stereo headset, which lets you listen to music and FM radio and make/take calls while you're exercising--all without wires. (
Well, sort of.) The Sport has a list price of $99.99, but right now you can get it from
Amazon for
$60.99 shipped.

I know so many people who buy big, fancy
HDTVs, then settle for the weak, tinny sound that comes from the built-in speakers. It's a travesty!
If you really want to enjoy your home theater--TV shows,
Blu-ray movies, console games, and so on--you need a nice set of speakers. And to drive those speakers, you'll need a receiver.

I don't know about you, but I hate scalp-burn. You know, when your head gets sunburned? It's worse than being burnt almost anywhere else, especially annoying when you start to peel--and yes there is a point to this gross rant—and it's just awful to have. So I always have to wear a hat when I'm outdoors for long periods of time (
yay, thin hair :(), which totally puts a damper on my music-listening times, because my big 1980s headphones won't fit under my baseball cap.
What is a girl to do? I give you
