About Video Games

Video games are games that involve interaction from a human with a user interface in order to generate visual feedback on a video screen device. The video in your video game refers to the raster display device. Now, the term video games imply any type of display device, which can be your computer monitor or television. The system that you use to play video games is known as a platform. Some examples of these platforms are video game consoles and personal computers.  The user interface that  is used to manipulate your video games is known as the game controller. These game controllers will vary according to what kind of video game platform you are going to be using. A dedicated console controller may consist of a button and a controller known as a joy stick. The earliest personal computers had video games on them and they relied on the keyboard for the video games to be played. In today’s modern world we have the keyboard, mouse, joy sticks and key pads for video games to be played.

The history of video games goes all the way back to 1948.  This is where the idea first came about having video games and was patented by Thomas Goldsmith, Jr. and a person by the name of Estle Ray Mann.  In 1958, a video game named Higinbotham's Tennis for Two was created.  Then later in 1962, Spacewar was invented which was hailed as the very first computer video game in history.  In 1972, Magnavox Odyssey was developed as the very first video game console for the home.  A man by the name of Ralph Baer is credited to have created the first home video game console.
