Shop Smarter
Some seasons, I adore the current trends. Colors that look great with my skin, silhouettes that flatter my figure, shoe styles that are adorable and wearable. Some seasons I hardly spend a penny because the trends are so unwearable and unrealistic for my life. Summer 2011 has been a banner season for me--great hues, great style, and great little touches to update what I already own in my closet.
This is the year of accessories. It's amazing how one little addition can completely transform your ensemble, and how it can do it for just pennies. Here are some of my favorite ways to update your existing wardrobe for this season without spending and arm and a leg:

One of the biggest obstacles to internet shopping are the shipping charges. That's why
free shipping offers are among the most popular promotions for online shoppers. A recent post over at SmartMoney explored the
increase of free shipping offered by various online retailers and inspired me to do a round-up of the top fifty online retailers, their shipping policies and how to get free shipping at each of them.

Loose Change
Image by: ForeverDaisiesRemember those Help Wanted ads in the print classifieds looking for individuals to 'hire' for jewelry piece work (
beading assembly)? Menial labor with little compensation, if completed to standard. Not to mention, it would take hours to complete one with such fine precision.
And this is after the C.O.D. fees for the starter kit.
Since Etsy started in 2005, hand craft hobbyists are starting to make much more for their craftsmanship. With placing much higher than
eBay in the
online sellers marketplace, is it time to get crafting?

Stuff We Like
When
Savings.com asked me to create a weekly DIY tutorial for their readers, I was overwhelmed. I was also drunk, which is why I said yes.
But I think you'll agree that I'm a natural for a job like this, because I have almost no crafting ability. And if there's one thing the handmade movement has taught us, it's that you don't actually need talent to craft, and everyone has to pretend to like it anyway.
And speaking of no talent, how great is Jersey Shore? Really great, that's how. And if all those kids did was smoke cigarettes and vomit on themselves, it would be enough for me. But God love them, they've got so much more on the ball. Did you know that three of them are already published authors? And Snooki's book is on the New York Times Bestseller List! It all seems so effortless for them. Probably because they didn't actually write anything.
Wouldn't we all want a taste of that life? You bet we would. And today, I'm going to show you how to see the world through Snooki's eyes. Soon you'll be living the dream, one happy hour at at time.

Holidays
Fall is well under way and with holiday gift giving upon our heels, the great handmade craft ideas start rolling around my mind. From Halloween costumes to Christmas gifts, there are plenty of adorable ideas out there to keep busy. Plus, homemade can be the most thoughtful gift and easiest on the pocketbook.
Beginner or expert, no worries! Here are a few great examples of good and well, you be the judge...

Holidays
Om nom nom...cookie cake...nom nom...
ANYWAY...
Flowers, jewelry, sappy cards…these are the things we've been trained to associate with Mother's Day thanks to
Hallmark and
Teleflora commercials. When you think about your mom though, I mean really think about who she is as a person, are flowers and jewelry really the kinds of things she wants?
This Mother's Day, take some time to think about what your mom would really like as a gift, maybe something a little out of the ordinary…
By snarkydeals 6 months ago Ahhhhh, I am a Joann addict!! I only recently discovered how much cheaper they are than Michaels, and if you're nice to the in-store cashiers, you can usually double up on coupons (for example, double a 20% off Everything deal with a 50% off 1 item). Shopping online is super easy and their deals just keep comin'! Hold out for the holiday season to do bulk yarn, fabric, and bakeware shopping - it's worth the wait in savings.

By tickledpink 5 months ago I am so hooked on Joanns online. Really great deals especially when your on a fixed income. I love the stuff and the prices!! I already have bunches of craft stuff. I really don't need anything, but that wouldn't be fun. Thank you so much for your fantastic deals!!! Just keep them coming our way.

By dstearns 6 months ago I love to stack the savings with these guys. When you shop during their sales (30% off yarn, cross stitch kits, sewing machines, etc - new ones every week), then tack on the discount coupons for savings on a single item, as well as the free shipping promos....voila: some seriously crafty discounts that will keep you busy with fun projects all year round. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter too, since they always email you extra coupon codes just for the heck of it. :)

By dealtown 6 months ago I second what snarkydeals said! Joann is great and really easy to find deals for. When I shop at Joann online, I can almost always find a coupon on Savings for 10-20% off entire order, or around 40% off one item. Definitely don't pay full price at Joann, it's super easy to find a coupon and they come up often.
