Money Saving Tips
Welcome to Part Deux of San Diego on a Budget. If you read Part One on
where to stay, you've already got your accommodations all taken care of. This week we'll concentrate on things for the frugal traveler to do in America's Finest City**.
Honestly, with such a walkable city and miles of scenic beaches at your disposal, you probably don't even need me for ideas on what to do. But as a frequent traveler to San Diego, I feel it my duty to let you in on some of my favorite places.

Money Saving Tips

Note that while I do not have children myself, I have been informed by one of my nephews that I am "98% kid" (In case you are wondering, I was told the only issues preventing me from being 100% kid are that I have a job and drive a car). So these tips should be useful to both the child-blessed and blissfully childless.
This week I will concentrate on Where to Stay.

So you scraped and saved for months, dreaming of sunny Gulf Coast beaches and pristine turquoise waters. You've eaten cardboard since Christmas so you could fit into that one-size-too-small bikini. You even enrolled in a strategic packing course to learn how to get all those souvenirs into your luggage.
And then the
BP oil spill came along. Even experts aren't sure about the final impact the leak will have on Gulf Coast, or even East Coast, beaches. To get an idea about where it's headed, take a look at USA Today's
oil spill tracking, which graphs daily observations as ocean currents move the spill.
While it may seem selfish to think about oneself when lives have been lost and an environmental disaster looms, our lives do go on. Those summer vacation days you put in for so long ago still have to be used.
Here are some inland alternatives for vacationers who are considering retreating from the beaches this year.
