Holidays
If you've ever looked over at your partner, your kids, your workmates, your pets or your house and wanted to scream, now you have an excuse: It's Halloween! Go ahead, just for the seasonal sake of it--let out a blood curdling wail.
Now that you've got that out of your system, it's time to make some "spooktacular" plans. In my book, you are never too old for tricks and treats and you don't even have to leave your house to enjoy them. Your costumed friends will come to your house, because you're about to throw the best Halloween party in town!

Holidays
I love to travel, but on a 3-day weekend, my vision quest extends to about as far as my own backyard. It's amateur hour on the road and besides, I've got a people coming. Lots of hungry people who are ready for the first official party of the season: The Memorial Day BBQ! Just the fact that an ordinary Monday is eclipsed by history and also includes one of my favorite sayings, "Company Holiday" should be enough to get motivated, but when it's the first party of the season--well, it's got to be slammin'!

Money Saving Tips
Image by jwinfred via FlickrMy son turned five this week (
I can't believe it!) and although we decided to forgo the party this year in favor of a trip to
Legoland, we did have a little family celebration and it got me thinking about party food. With Memorial Day weekend and barbecue season right around the corner, I thought I'd share a few ideas.

Loose Change
This week we cover news on illegal downloading, Facebook going after Google, how to buy used merchandise, how to see free movies, a good teen Samaritan, and overpriced (?) weddings.

Special Events
Okay, so I'll be the first to admit, this blog post is at least three days too late to be useful--but you can start planning early for next year.
You can throw a superb
Super Bowl party or watch the Indy 500 all day or have folks over for game 7 of the World Series, but the Kentucky Derby is like all the excitement of those events focused into a laser beam. They call it the fastest two minutes in sports for a reason--and that reason is not a misunderstanding of how time works. Because of that, a Derby party is quick and easy and therefore less expensive.
As an added bonus--unless you live near Kentucky--you are likely the only one of your friends having a party that weekend.
