Last week, you shared with pictures of your favorite pet on our Facebook page, for your chance to win a $50 gift card to Jeffer's Pet Supplies. We were overwhelmed with cute images and our heart skipped a beat for 21-year-old Buzz, who's blind and deaf (and looks like a giant stuffed animal).
Congratulations to Savings.com user and Facebook fan Lourdes Doyle, and her therapy dog, Leo. Leo may not have legs that work properly, but he's making a difference not only in his family's life, but also as a therapy dog. Lourdes, I've sent you
each an email with instructions on how to claim your prize. If
some reason it doesn't reach you, send me an email at email@example.com before the end of the
day on Tuesday, April 17th or another winner will be chosen.
I know as well as anyone how challenging it can be to exercise
regularly, eat less, and lose weight.
Obviously there are lots of apps designed to help you meet
those challenges, including such well-known favorites as Lose It,
MyFitnessPal, and RunKeeper. I've found the last two in particular
to be indispensable as part of my regimen.
That said, developers are always looking for new ways to
(sorry) app-etize fitness and weight loss, everything from saving
you time to rewarding you for your efforts. Here's a look at three
of the latest apps that can help you health yourself.
7 Minute Workout
It was just a few weeks ago that I read a New York Times article about an interval
workout promising maximum fitness benefits with just seven
minutes of activity.
It's freebie time! I don't know about anyone else, but I love
going to my mailbox to see what freebies are there. Lately I've
been receiving a lot of K-Cup coffee offers I signed up for
about 6 weeks ago. Not just one K-Cup
either, they're four packs! Have you scored any of
the freebies offered in the Weekly Round-Up?
There are some free beauty products this week. You can get a free
samples of St.Ive's Blemish Control Apricot Scrub. Just upload a
photo and follow instructions to create a poster and then
submit it to get your sample. Dark & Lovely is offering a free
sample of Anit-Reversion Cream Serum.
I hope all of you are avid users of sunscreen and at the very least use
it on your face daily. In a recent article taken from the SF Gate, it was reported that the FDA is changing the standards of how SPF is determined. Currently, SPF only refers to UVB rays (causes sunburn) and not UVA rays (causes skin cancer). Sound confusing? It is.
Most sunscreens in the U.S. market claim to protect against both types of damaging rays, but really don't. In fact, 20% of the products here can't be sold in Europe because their UVA standards are so strict and have been in place for many years. Why is the U.S. behind, considering our rates of melanoma have gone up 50% from 1994 to 2004?
When I was asked to test and review some skincare products from Elemis courtesy of generous folks at Time to Spa, I jumped at the opportunity. Free beauty products to try? Yes, please. They sent over a set of four products to try all tucked into a cute silver bag.
The temperatures are rising which means that summer is right around the corner. Time to break out the shorts, skirts, tank tops and sandals. But alas, having fun in the sun comes with precautions. The last thing you want after a fun day at the beach is peeling the blistering skin off your back.
I've compiled a list of five summer first-aid essentials to get you ready for lazy summer days and hot summer nights.
