Bad news, procrastinators: You've just about run out of time
to shop for the ultimate Father's Day gift.
Good news, procrastinators: I'm one of you. And as a result,
I've learned a few tricks of the last-minute-gift trade. If you
still need a killer present for dear old Dad, I've rounded up
several great items that don't require a trip to the store or even
a visit from the UPS man. And as an added bonus, they're all
reasonably priced.
1. LoJack for Laptops subscription
Dad's a practical guy, so he's sure to appreciate an insurance
policy for one of his most prized possessions.
LoJack
for Laptops is designed to help recover a stolen laptop.

Holidays
It's back-to-school shopping season, and for a lot of students that
means stocking up on tech gear: laptops, flash drives, and maybe
even a new phone.
Of course, you're probably the one footing the bill for all
this stuff, so it makes sense to seek out the best deals you
can.
With that in mind, I've assembled three tips to help you get
the most bang for your back-to-school buck.
1. Don't Go Overboard on a Laptop
I'm often asked for laptop buying advice, and my response is
always the same: "What do you plan to do with it?"
Students have fairly modest needs--often little more than word
processing, Web browsing, and e-mail. Of course, moving beyond mere
needs, they'll also want to use their machines for things like
music, movies, and games.
Thankfully, these activities don't require a lot of
horsepower. At minimum you'll want a dual-core processor, 4GB of
RAM, and 320GB hard drive.

Money Saving Tips
If you're like me, you have your smartphone on hand all the
time and you're constantly checking it. So, when you start thinking about
travel plans – maybe it's a weekend on an island to escape the cold or a trip
to hit the slopes – why would you pull out your laptop, when apps for all
your travel needs are available for your phone? Many apps are free, though
there are some that go up in price from a few cents to a yearly fee. The
savings, however, far outweigh the convenience offered when with the touch of a
screen you can book your flight, choose your seat, make a hotel reservation or
even send a video postcard once you've reached your destination.
