About Naadam
Naadam was established in 2013 after college friends Matthew Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus took a trip to Mongolia. While staying at a remote nomadic herding farm in the Gobi Desert, they became friends with the local herders and learned all about the inequity of the cashmere trade. At the time, the marketplace was rigged in favor of middlemen who fixed prices and kept the majority of the profits for themselves. This inspired the duo to disrupt that structure and create Naadam, a company dedicated to creating high-quality, sustainable cashmere products while protecting the livelihoods of Mongolian herding communities with fair compensation. Today, the New York company is known for its luxurious cashmere sweaters, scarves, and other apparel. It sources its cashmere responsibly, ensuring fair prices and ethical treatment for the animals. Naadam's commitment to quality and sustainability has earned it a loyal customer base.
