About Vivino
Vivino was founded by two wine novices, Heini Zachariassen and Theis Søndergaard, in 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The duo created a website to organize their growing knowledge, allowing everyday drinkers to contribute. The company used a clever marketing strategy to grow its online database from 5,000 varieties to 50,000 in 2011, giving away a corkscrew as a prize to the customer who photographed the most wine bottles. By late 2014, Vivino was receiving nearly 25,000 photos per day. By 2022, Vivino has a database of almost 17 million wines, with more than 60 million registered users sharing and reviewing their favorite wines. Vivino maintains its offices in Denmark, though the company has moved its headquarters to San Francisco.
