There are numerous reasons to consider an Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch in 2022. Outside of keeping time, these smartwatches allow for easy access to notifications, text messages, and music streaming. You can also use them to make phone calls, monitor your basic vitals (heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen level, etc.), and track fitness performance.

In many ways, the Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch operate as extensions of your smartphone. You’ll need an iPhone to access most of the features on the Apple Watch, while the Galaxy Watch works best with the smartphones in the Samsung ecosystem (though it is compatible with other Android phones). In other words, if you’re looking for a new smartwatch, you’ll likely want a compatible smartphone to maximize your experience.

The good news: Verizon is offering an excellent April promotion on Apple and Samsung Galaxy smartwatches. From April 15 through April 30, you can get select Apple Watches for as low as $5 per month when you buy an iPhone and add a new line. Verizon has a similar promotion for select Samsung Galaxy Watches if you buy an Android smartphone. You can even trade in your old eligible smartwatch to get up to $180 off in additional savings. We’ve covered all the details below, including which smartwatch might be best for you.

Top Apple Smartwatches Available at Verizon

1. Apple Watch Series 7

The Deal: Save $150 when you purchase an iPhone
Retail Price: $499.99
Monthly Price: $13.88 per month (36 months)

The latest Apple Watch comes with a few new upgrades, including a QWERTY keyboard and larger display. You’ll also get a USB-C magnetic charger for speedy charging. Other features include blood oxygen level monitoring, sleep tracking, and the ability to take an ECG. Athletes will love the fitness mode which covers all kinds of exercises, from Pilates and tai chi to running and outdoor cycling. The biggest possible downside to the Series 7 is that you need to own an iPhone to make and receive phone calls, send text messages, use Apple Pay, etc. In fact, users can’t even set up Apple Watch without an iPhone.

The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $499.99, but shoppers can get $150 back in promo credits if they buy an Apple iPhone along with it. This could be a great opportunity to get Apple’s best smartwatch at a reduced price, especially for those already due for an iPhone upgrade.

Savings Tip: College students can get up to $25 off Unlimited Verizon Plans! All you have to do is confirm your eligibility with UNIDAYS to qualify.

2. Apple Watch Series 6

Retail Price: $649.99
Monthly Price: $18.05 per month (36 months)
The Deal: Save $150 when you purchase an iPhone

There aren’t as many differences between the Series 6 and the Series 7 as one might think. The battery life is about the same (though the Series 7 can charge at a much faster rate). Also, the health features are virtually identical. While the Series 6 screens are a bit smaller, those with smaller wrists might even count that as a plus, compared to the 7.

Unfortunately, if you’re expecting a bargain buy, you’ll have to look elsewhere. Prices for Series 6 remain high, most likely due to low stock and Apple discontinuing the line. As of now, Verizon is only offering the Series 6 in the gold casing, but shoppers can still get $150 off when they purchase a new iPhone along with it.

3. Apple Watch SE

Retail Price: $329.99
Monthly Price: $9.16 per month (36 months)
The Deal: Save $150 when you purchase an iPhone

If you’re bummed about the price of the Series 6, don’t worry — the Apple Watch SE has many of the same features at a significantly reduced price. Both options have the same display and resolution, built-in GPS, automatic workout detection, water resistance, call and text capabilities, and battery life. What’s missing from the SE? Blood oxygen monitoring, an ECG app, and the always-on display, to name a few. If those aren’t deal-breakers, the Apple Watch SE is an excellent (and more affordable) option. The discount will show in the online cart once you add both the phone and watch.

Customers can also get the SE for less than $5 per month with the purchase of an Apple iPhone. (Technically, it’s the same $150 promo credit as the above deals, except you’ll have to choose an Unlimited plan for your new iPhone to get the $5 per month price.)

Savings Tip: Ready for a new iPhone? Right now, you can get the iPhone 13 for as little as $10 per month. No trade-in is required, but you’ll need to open a new line.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

4. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

Retail Price: $399.99
Monthly Price: $11.11 per month (36 months)
The Deal: Save $120 when you purchase an Android Smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic combines all the expected features of a modern smartwatch with a traditional wristwatch design and durable stainless-steel casing. LTE connectivity lets you call, text, and stream music without a Wi-Fi connection, while the Classic’s fitness modes allow you to track walking, running, cycling, gym workouts, and other activities. The Watch 4 Classic also has a handy rotating bezel that helps you navigate through its many menus. Battery life may be an issue, however, especially if you expect your watch to last the entire day without a charge.

Verizon is currently offering $120 off the Watch 4 Classic when you purchase an Android smartphone device and choose any plan.

Savings Tip: Verizon wants to help you upgrade to 5G. That’s why they’re offering up to $200 off select smartphones when you switch to a 5G Unlimited plan.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

5. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Retail Price: $299.99
Monthly Price: $8.33 per month (36 months)
The Deal: Save $120 when you purchase an Android Smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 differs from the Classic in a few ways: It’s slightly smaller than the Classic, features a slightly more modern design with two additional colors to choose from, and it features a digital rotating bezel instead of a physical one. Otherwise, the specs are identical; both include the same Exynos W920 chip, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB storage, and comprehensive fitness monitoring.

The Galaxy Watch 4 is cheaper than the Classic, too, and the same Verizon deal applies — get $120 off when you buy an Android smartphone and choose any plan.

Verizon GizmoWatch 2

6. Verizon GizmoWatch 2

Retail Price: $99.99
Monthly Price: $2.77 per month (36 months)
The Deal: Buy one Verizon GizmoWatch 2, get another up to $99.99 off.

Let your kids join in on the smartwatch fun with the durable and waterproof Verizon GizmoWatch 2. They’ll enjoy a streamlined experience that includes a step tracker, call and text capabilities, and interactive to-do lists, while you’ll appreciate the GPS locator, parental controls, and helpful task reminders.

The GizmoWatch 2 is a top seller at Verizon and costs as little as $2.77 per month. Verizon also has a BOGO deal that can get you a free GizmoWatch 2 if you choose a 36-month plan and open a new line on the second watch.
