Whether you're shopping in store or online, it's important to know what changes businesses are making in light of the current pandemic.
Most Home Depot stores are currently open. Store availability is subject to change at any time due to local regulations and the severity of the pandemic. The best way to determine whether your store is open is to use Home Depot’s store locator.
Even though many stores are open, some may have had their operating hours reduced. This is to allow employees more time to stock shelves and sanitize the building.
Home Depot has established some safety protocols, per CDC guidelines, to protect both shoppers and employees. For example, the company asked that all persons within a store wear a face covering at all times.
The company is also reminding shoppers to practice social distancing by standing at least six feet from other shoppers and employees. To ensure there is room to safely distance, stores may limit the number of guests who are allowed inside the building at any one time.
Home Depot has modified its return policy to reduce shopper stress and congestion in its stores. Previously, shoppers had 90 days from the date of purchase to make a return on most items. For the time being, the time limit has been increased to 180 days. Some exceptions apply, so be sure to thoroughly review the updated returns policy on the website.
Some of Home Depot’s installation services may be suspended for some time. When these services will be offered again will depend on available manpower, local regulations and the severity of the pandemic. If you’re interested in an installation service, be sure to contact your local store for details about what is available and what is not.
Home Depot has not released information about what it’s doing for Cyber Monday this year. Its Black Friday event has changed drastically due to the pandemic, so we would expect Cyber Monday to be modified, too.
Last year, the company announced that Cyber Monday would commence on Monday, December 2nd and last through Thursday, December 5th. This gave shoppers just a few days to snatch up exclusive deals.
Home Depot has noted previously that while there is some crossover between its Black Friday sale and Cyber Monday discounts, the latter are primarily reserved for online shoppers. This means that if you want to take advantage of the store’s awesome deals the week after Thanksgiving, you’ll need to shop on your computer or mobile device.
Considering that Home Depot’s Black Friday sale has been extended to two months to allow shoppers plenty of time to snag deals, we’d expect the Cyber Monday event to take a similar turn. While it’s unlikely the event would last as long, it would make sense for the store to hold the event for an entire week rather than part of it.
As Cyber Monday is traditionally reserved for internet shoppers, we’d expect to see many more deals that are only available online. This celebrates the original intent of the holiday, while also keeping shoppers out of their stores during this trying time.
Even though Home Depot hasn’t given any hints about what items will go on sale during Cyber Monday, it’s easy to guess what you might see based on the store’s history.
It goes without saying that DIYers will be spoiled for choice when it comes to tools. Power tools are always popular during these shopping events, especially bundled packages. Expect to see power tool sets that come with multiple tools, batteries and chargers so that you’re ready to go right out of the box.
Appliances are always big sellers during end-of-the-year sales. Home Depot is sure to have fantastic prices on refrigerators, stoves, microwaves and other big-tag items. It’s also common for the store to have bundles at drastically slashed prices. If you’ve been planning a kitchen renovation, Cyber Monday is definitely a great time to shop.
One of the nicest things about Home Depot’s Cyber Monday sales is that they always have something for everyone. While the power tools and appliances are nice, not everyone is in the market for that. For those people, there are always low-priced accessories and everyday essentials. These include batteries, screwdrivers, rugs, holiday decor, extension cords, tape measures, tool boxes, flashlights and ladders.
If you’ve got a homeowner or DIYer in your life, you’ll be pleased to know that Home Depot is a wonderful place to pick up gifts. You won’t find cologne and pajamas at the store, but you will find complete tool sets, vacuums and small appliances that anyone can appreciate.
Since almost all of your Cyber Monday shopping will occur online, you have to think about shipping costs. If they’re too much, the deals won’t really be deals.
Thankfully, Home Depot has a very fair free shipping policy. When you spend $45 or more, your order qualifies for free home delivery.
You can also avoid delivery fees by electing for in-store pickup. You have the choice of going into the store to pick up your purchases or having them brought out to you via curbside pickup.
