Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the courage and sacrifice that made our freedom possible.
The three-day weekend, meanwhile, is a time to invite friends and family over, then consume 17,000 calories (each). If you’re throwing the ultimate backyard barbecue, you’ll need more than patties, buns, sliced tomatoes, and a 200 pack of American flag toothpicks to hold ‘em together; you’ll need a grill.
But if you’re planning to order a new charcoal companion or propane partner, It might arrive with more loose parts than the number of American flag toothpicks sitting on your kitchen counter — in which case, you’ll still be putting your monstrosity together like Dr. Frankenstein at the last minute when you should be putting frankfurters on it.
But if you buy your grill at Walmart, you can also conveniently hire someone to assemble it.
In collaboration with Angi (formerly Angie's List), Walmart offers professional assembly for grills — and for patio furniture, in case your guests need somewhere to sit — and they’ll even dispose of the packaging. Angi can also take care of lawnmowing and swimming pool cleaning, so the neighbors will only gossip about your coleslaw recipe.
How It Works
Booking a pro is super simple. Just shop for an eligible item and click the option for assembly underneath “Add to Cart":
After checkout, Angi will contact you via email to coordinate and schedule your service at a convenient time. They also have an Angi + Walmart Help Center if you need support.
How Much Does It Cost?
For grills under $200, basic grill assembly is approximately $69 (pricing may vary by location). For grills over $200, you’ll need premium grill assembly at approximately $96. Sure, that adds a significant chunk to the purchase price, but — depending on how handy you are with an Allen wrench — it might save you from duct-taping the whole thing together.
For a full price list, check out Walmart’s page for all Angi services. (You’ll need to pay for the handyperson in currency, not in calories, even if you have extra burgers.)
Cancellations and Refunds
Change your mind and want to DIY after all? You can cancel your Angi booking for a refund up to 24 hours in advance.
If you’re not happy with the service, the Angi Happiness Guarantee “means we will cover your project up to the full purchase price, plus limited damage protection," according to Walmart.
Assuming all goes well, though? You can spend Memorial Day flipping burgers on your assembled new grill instead of flipping the individual parts off.
