Your mom gave you life, so in return you should give her Mother’s Day flowers that aren’t 1) full of microplastics or 2) surreptitiously yanked from your neighbor’s lawn the night before.
But many floral delivery sites charge shipping and handling fees of $15 to $25 just for knocking on the door. So, is there a way to send Mom a lovely arrangement without the surcharges?
Yep! Not every rose delivery has its thorny fees.
If you’ve got a Walmart+ membership, you can use the free shipping or free delivery perks to send fresh Mother’s Day flowers. Sunflowers to brighten her Sunday! Tulips if you live too far away for a kiss on the cheek with two lips! Mums for the World’s Best Mum! (We turned British for that last one.)
How to Send Flowers with Walmart+
- Log into your account, head to the Walmart Flower Shop, and peruse the petals. (“You can't go wrong with pink carnations or mom’s favorite flower in her favorite color," the Flower Shop recommends.)
- Look for a “W+" icon under the product name, which means it’s eligible for free shipping. Even without that icon, Walmart+ members can still qualify for free delivery from select nearby florists through Walmart’s LocalFinds.
- Add flowers to your cart like you would for paper towels, cat litter, or any other product, although the flowers will ideally smell better.
- At checkout, change your delivery day to Sunday — or Saturday, just to be safe:
Before placing your order, be sure to enter your mother’s address — not your own — as the recipient (unless you live together, which, hey, we’ve all been there) and type a gift message. Even a quick and cheesy “Love you, Mom!" will melt her heart.
And speaking of things that melt, add some chocolates or candles for Mom with the $15 to $25 in shipping-and-handling fees that you just saved … or, shall we say, nipped in the bud.
